Cal Anderson Park Alliance
CAPA is an organization convened in 2006 by
Seattle Parks & Recreation which brings together citizens and Parks employees who are dedicated to generating creative, innovative activities, programs and events to activate Cal Anderson Park. Our goal is to build on and sustain healthy, safe and varied uses for the park. Welcome to our website, which will grow as our board grows. Check back often to see what's happening in the park!

We are pleased and proud that Cal Anderson Park has been named one of twelve America's Best City Parks by Forbes.com. Other parks include Prospect Park/Brooklyn, Boston Common, Golden Gate Park/San Francisco, Balboa Park/San Diego and Patterson Park/Baltimore.
Peter Harnik, director of the Center for City Park Excellence at the Trust for Public Land in Washington, D.C. says "A great city park has to be a beautiful space that also has a great relationship with the city." We think Cal Anderson Park has that in spades. See http://www.forbes.com/2009/11/18/best-city-parks-lifestyle-travel-central-park.html

CAPA wants you!
Cal Anderson Park Alliance is seeking new board members and will review applications from interested people starting at the end of January 2010. We are interested in hearing from all who are passionate about the nationally-recognized award-winning open space that is Cal Anderson Park, and are especially interested in those with skills in event production, marketing, law, and web design. We also welcome inquiries from people who would like to work on projects specific to the park, especially those which might exemplify issues Cal Anderson championed.
The application packet is available here in PDF form. Have questions about serving? Email us at info@calandersonpark.org.

Donations to CAPA are fully tax deductible through our fiscal agreement with Associated Recreation Council (ARC).
